What You Should Know
Overview of UNA-NIG
The Ambassadors Initiative for Youth Development and Conflict Resolution is a non-governmental organization (NGO) borne out of the passion to change the world one child at a time. We seek to make global leaders locally. We are passionate about rewriting the narrative of African leadership and moving us from complaint to action.
Tours and Excursions
SDG EXCURSIONS
We organize insightful excursions which focus on our attainment of the Sustainable Development Goals in our locality. It is simply not a day out of school, but one which the students would never forget as they become Model UN Ambassadors who must represent the UN countries which they are assigned and give a policy statement depending on the issues being discussed at the visit.
Our excursions require at least 25 people on each tour and are very affordable depending on the place visited and its modalities. We have not only sown the seeds to become positive change agents within those who have taken advantage of our excursions, but have also created the passion in them to attain the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in their increased awareness of global issues

Participate in Our Events and Conferences
The first phase of the Model UN club tutelage (Junior Diplomat Stage) necessitates the participation of its members in a Model United Nations Conference. This is greatly encouraged to allow the members to practicalize what they have learned in the sessions and to display the several skills acquired, such as their oratory, diplomatic, research, team building and conflict resolution skills to name a few.
There is also an option to prepare intending participants of the conferences who are not involved in the Model UN program but who simply want to experience the thrill of being part of an authentic simulation of the United Nations. This can be organized in separate sessions over the holidays or which span over the week preceding the conference.

What People are Saying About Us
Model UN is a club that has greatly impacted my life. It has allowed me to seek deeper into parts of who I am, enabling me to not only voice out my opinions but hear and critically analyze those of others as well. It has transformed into an eloquent individual. Now, whenever I enter a room I am sure to make an impact. People turn to me to make decisions and for advice because they know I'm a leader. This wasn't a reputation I built by myself but with the help of Coach Didi and her training, which made me who I am today. I am proud to be a representative of Carmel Academy. It is not only a place to grow but a place to forge new connections with different people around you. I hope the leadership programs can inspire your growth as much as they inspired mine.
ONAJITE AKEMU
Carmel Academy transformed my leadership and public speaking skills through hands-on opportunities that built my confidence and voice. I'm deeply grateful for the platform to lead, compete, and succeed—winning 2 conferences and securing second place in another. Thank you for shaping future leaders!
CHUKWUEBUKA UDENZE
Model UN has been part of my life for nine years, and honestly, it’s shaped me in ways I didn’t expect when I first walked into a committee room. I’ve grown up behind placards and resolutions, learning how to speak up even when I lacked confidence, and how to really listen when someone else had something to say. Over time, I realized diplomacy isn’t just policy, its people, patience, and trying to build bridges even when it feels like no one agrees on anything. There’s a familiar rush every time I step into a new committee, the kind that reminds me exactly why I fell in love with this activity. What started as an extracurricular slowly became a place where I found confidence, purpose, and some of my favorite memories. After nearly a decade, MUN doesn’t feel like a club anymore, it feels like a home I’ve grown into.
